Beaverton MOPS
A Ministry of St. Matthew Lutheran Church

FAQs

What is a cooperative?
A cooperative is a program where the members participate in various ways to help subsidize costs. Requirements for our MOPS group include volunteering in the MOPPETS program once a year, serving on a committee and bringing food items to share at assigned meetings. Leadership development opportunities are available if of interest.

This sounds great! But how much does all this cost?
The annual tuition for the 2010–2011 program is $145, which includes a $25 non-refundable MOPS International registration fee. If you would like to attend MOPS without having your children in our MOPPETS childcare program, you may register for a discounted rate of $105 for the year. Due to financial commitments, refund requests will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

We realize that household funds may not be available to some. In the effort to make our MOPS program available to all, scholarship funds and/or tuition reduction assistance is available to those in need. To apply for a scholarship or tuition reduction assistance, download an application from the Registration Forms page.

What is my yearly tuition money used for?
$25.00 of your tuition is paid to MOPS International. Each meeting the money is used to provide 3 hours of loving child care, a quality speaker, a creative craft or demonstration and brunch in a relaxed and welcoming environment. This low-cost, high-quality program would not be possible without the generous contributions made each year by the members of St. Matthew Lutheran Church. Along with financial support, they provide our meeting facility and access to many church resources. We are very thankful for their commitment to this valuable ministry!

Can I join MOPS after it has started for the year?
Yes, you can join any time, but child care is not guaranteed. Once MOPPETS classes are full, you will need to find alternative childcare. We assign the children on a first-come, first-in basis. Returning members do not have priority over new members.

If I am not a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, can I still attend MOPS?
Yes! MOPS is a ministry of the church for all mothers with child/children ages birth to 6 years old. All mothers are welcome regardless of religious affiliation.
