FAQ's and Cost
What is a cooperative?
A cooperative is a program where the members participate in various ways—to subsidize costs. Requirements for our MOPS group include volunteering in the MOPPETS program once a year and bringing food items to share at several meetings.
Your small group leader will give you a schedule of duties in advance. Leadership development, charity and fundraising activities are offered, but not required. Your participation keeps our program quality high, but the costs low.
This sounds great! But how much does all this cost?
MOPS wants to be available to every mother of preschoolers,
so if money is an issue, scholarships are available. We do have costs involved in running the meetings
- crafts, refreshments, speakers, etc. The registration costs for the 2008-2009 year will be $145 per mom (with children enrolled in our MOPPETS program). This includes a $25 non-refundable MOPS International registration fee. If you would like to attend our MOPS group, but do not plan on having your children in our MOPPETS childcare program, you may register at a discounted rate of $105.
**A $20.00 late fee will be added to registrations returned after August 16th**
A payment plan will available, with the 1st payment of $72.50 due at time of registration, and the balance due on December 1st. Refer to your registration materials for more information.
Please verify that each child you plan on bringing to MOPS is pre-registered for the MOPPETS program. You must be the legal guardian of the children you register.
What is my yearly tuition money used for?
$25.00 of your tuition is paid to MOPS International. The remaining amount is divided between 14 meetings, making the cost of each meeting less then $9.00. Each meeting the money is used to provide 3 hours of loving childcare, a quality speaker, a creative craft or demonstration and brunch in a relaxed and welcoming environment. This low-cost, high-quality program would not be possible
without the generous contributions made each year by St. Matthew Lutheran church. Along with financial support, they provide our meeting facility and access to many church resources. We are very thankful for their commitment to this valuable ministry!
Can I join MOPS after it has started for the year?
Yes, you can join anytime, but childcare is not guaranteed. Once MOPPETS classes are full, you will need to find alternate childcare during our MOPS meetings. The last 2 years we have had a waiting list for childcare.
Still have questions……
Plan to come to our MOPS "open house" on Friday, September 12th, 2008 from 11am to Noon at St. Matthew Lutheran Church. This is an opportunity to see the MOPS meeting facilities, explore the childrens classrooms, and meet some other MOPS members. Bring your children to help familiarize them with the MOPPETS childcare program, and meet a few of the childrens teachers. If you are unsure about becoming a MOPS member, this is your opportunity to ask the leadership team questions, and get a first-hand overview of how our program runs. No RSVP necessary! 10390 SW Canyon Road, Beaverton, OR, Beaverton, OR 97005.
If you need answers before our open house, please contact Kristi Peterson.Sarah Sievert.
